April Theatrical Production

Antio - 1

The CCA Theatrical Arts Program will present five Greek Classics in a spring 2024 production. The mythical tales are King Midas, Orpheus and Eurydice, Narcissus and Echo, Icarus and Daedalus, and Theseus and Minotaur. The show will last approximately one hour and fifteen minutes. The cast will consist of middle and high school students with theatre arts teacher Kristee McCusker serving as production coordinator. A team of school parents, staff and community supporters has been assisting in costuming and set construction.

“This is the school’s first ever production with only two of the 26 students having performed on stage. We chose mythology because the students have a strong interest in the folk tale genre. Mythology is the study of how one should have lived their lives in ancient society. It encapsulates fantasy, discovery, and exploration that our younger students in particular still have strong functions in. It fosters these areas of imagination in our older students, reaching the inner child in all of us. When students can connect what they’ve learned in other subjects like social studies and English, it is really a cross-curricular experience,” explained McCusker.

The performance dates are Friday, April 19, at 6:00 pm and Saturday, April 20, at 5:00 pm at Life Springs Church (3215 Keller-Andrews Rd., Sanford, NC 27330). The entry fee (pay-at-the-door, cash only) will be $5 for CCA students and $10 for anyone else.
