COVID-19 Guidelines

Chatham Charter follows the CDC’s Operational Guidance for K12 Schools. If a student or staff member tests positive, they should stay home and isolate from other people for at least five days, and then wear a mask for five additional days.

Instructional Delivery

In-person instruction is essential to delivering the highest quality education. As a single school that forms a public school unit (PSU), the school does not have the resources to host a virtual academy in addition to its on-campus academic program without compromising educational standards. Chatham Charter will offer only in-person instruction for the entire student body, unless otherwise instructed by the State. Teachers have the option to deliver instruction for COVID-related absences in the following ways: hard copy of assignments, Google Classroom, Google Meet, individual check-in meetings between student and teacher (phone, email Google Meet) or, if necessary, an alternate assignment. Student Handbook procedures for excused and unexcused absences remain in place.

Any student who is quarantined or tests positive for COVID will be excused for absences during the required quarantine or isolation period. Any additional absences past this period will not be excused and subject to state truancy procedures.

Health, Wellness & Safety

Cleaning: Staff work together to clean and sanitize daily. Custodians clean with an EPA approved disinfectant for SARS-COV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) and will ensure safe and correct use and storage of products.

Wash hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds and/or using hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Hand sanitizer stations are set up throughout the school.

Protect yourself: Cough and/or sneeze into an elbow or cover face with a tissue. Avoid touching eyes, nose or mouth.

Curbside Check-out: Both offices now have contactless student checkout. Pull to the front of the building and follow the directions on the big purple signs.

Water bottles and extra water are strongly encouraged. Water bottle filling stations in each building are available.

Face coverings are optional.
