Spotlight on PTO

The Central Carolina Academy PTO is an active support group for the school to have additional resources throughout each school year. PTO focuses on bridging gaps for needs that are in addition to items in the school budget. Parent contributions and fundraisers are the primary funding sources.

In its first year PTO raised money for classroom work stations (a computer monitor and connection device) that both teachers and students could use along with a monitor for each teacher. During the current school year, PTO has funded two campus basketball goals that are scheduled to be installed this spring. The PTO also plans to contribute to an outdoor picnic area that is in the planning stage.

Monthly school spirit nights coordinated by a member of the PTO allow school clubs and organizations to raise funds for their activities. Students, parents, PTO representatives, and staff are part of spirit nights that are held a various local restaurants. Examples so far have included Bubba’s Subs and Pizza, Catherine Ann’s, A Toda Madre, and Jersey Mike’s. Each has donated some proceeds of purchases to CCA. On Tuesday, March 5, the spirit night location with the girls’ middle school basketball as sponsors will be at Dairy Queen (2831 S. Horner Blvd. in Sanford). The April spirit night will be sponsored by the prom committee on the 16th at Corbett’s Burgers and Soda Bar. The middle school will sponsor a spirit night on May 7th at Sakura Express. Everyone is invited to come and eat dinner at each restaurant to help raise money for CCA.

During the month of March, PTO will be sponsoring a spirit wear sale. Details will be posted on the PTO social media. Current and incoming students and families are encouraged to purchase items. Members of the PTO are also helping to plan a campus game night on March 15th from 6:00-10:00 pm and the eleventh grade prom that will be held on April 13th.

To encourage the staff, PTO hosts special holiday and teacher workday snacks and treats. March 18th through 22nd will be teacher appreciation week with daily recognitions of staff contributions to school success, snacks, a meal, and a fun theme for the week.

The PTO is looking for officers and volunteers to serve during the 2024-2025 school year. Open officer positions are seventh and ninth grade parent representatives. Interested school parents/guardians should send an email to immediately as the officer slate will be presented on March 21st.

PTO has fall, winter, and spring meetings. The spring meeting will be on April 25th at 5:30 pm with options for in person or virtual attendance.
